Savitha brings a wealth of experience gained through her collaborations with Japanese and Indian companies.She serves as a Relationship Manager of the Indo Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Karnataka and committee member of BNK(Japanese Language Examination Committee Cell), and plays a crucial role in organizing Japan Habba, India’s Largest Japanese Festival. Academically, she holds a Master’s degree in Computer Applications (MCA) and has contributed to the field as a professor at Dayananda Sagar College. Her deep involvement in the Japanese culture is evident from her time living in Japan, where she not only immersed herself in the local lifestyle but also successfully cleared higher level Japanese exam conducted by Japan foundation.
Rachana Gupta

Rachana is a dynamic personality with an advanced proficiency in the Japanese language. She imparts her knowledge by teaching Japanese to both corporates and students, showcasing her dedication to cross-cultural communication. Serving as a Director at IN-SARA, she plays a pivotal role in the organization. With a Master’s degree in Computer Applications (MCA), Rachana has a diverse professional background. Her experience extends to working with IT companies, where she excels as a Japanese Language Consultant. Beyond her linguistic expertise, she is also an accomplished artist, heading a soft furnishing company – CUT Japan. Her artistic talents have been showcased in group and solo exhibitions in both Japan and India, reflecting her creative pursuits. Having lived in Japan for over a decade, Rachana possesses a profound understanding of Japanese social and cultural nuances. This extensive experience enhances her ability to bridge cultural gaps and foster meaningful connections in both professional and artistic realms

It was the summer of 2019, when my father urged me to take up Japanese as a language right after my XIIth board exams which were to be conducted between February and March 2020. I looked up institutions in New Delhi and looked at their brochures too. But alas! Two days before my final board exam and a month before I planned to join a language school here in New Delhi, lockdown fell upon us, and with the lockdown so did my hopes and dreams of learning Japanese. After a couple of months my fire was re-kindled and I started to learn on my own using YouTube, free books online etc. I even learnt the first 50 Kanjis on my own. This helped me to get an understanding the structure of the language but not the language itself. I couldn’t understand the cultural and historic nuances behind the everyday phrases and how each sentence/phrase can be converted into varying levels of respect and humility. I got to understand this only when my aunt introduced me to Rachna Sensei. Her way of teaching made a language like Japanese, which is notoriously known for being very intimidating and challenging, especially for us Indians, feel like a walk in the park. Don’t get me wrong, the language itself and her curriculum is very rigorous, but Sensei’s way of teaching and interaction made it feel like a breeze. Even though the classes were online, I personally never felt that online barrier as she made sure each and every class was highly interactive and everyone answered. This was usually done by telling her real-life experiences in Japan, one in particular was when she encountered a snake and didn’t possess the vocabulary to alert the neighbours or ask for help. I specifically remember one incident where I noticed a recurring Kanji in Sensei’s PPTs, it was ”愛” (Love). I inquired about it in our class WhatsApp group and she gave the explanation for the same stating she put the symbol to signify her love for Japanese. And now three and a half years later I have cleared till JLPT N3 that too on my first attempt 先生のおかげで！

Sensei facilitated classes that allowed for lots of interaction and engagement. To facilitate practice for communication, Sensei encouraged students to prepare speeches on various topics. By doing this, students not only benefited from preparing speeches, which entailed using grammar patterns and vocabulary that were learnt, but also provided students an opportunity to actually speak the language. Afterwards, Sensei gave her feedback and corrected any mistakes in sentence construction or vocabulary usage. Sensei’s emphasis on spoken practice and communication is something which I feel is extremely crucial and beneficial for any learner.
Apart from this, Sensei also gave a lot of tips and pointers towards preparation for job interviews, right down to the kind of questions one can expect and how to address them. Sensei is patient and encourages students to ask questions. I remember asking a lot of questions over WhatsApp, and Sensei provided elaborate replies over messages or a direct call. All in all, I am extremely indebted to Sensei, and she has truly played an invaluable role in my Japanese language learning journey.
